WHAT MAKES OUR SOURDOUGH SO SPECIAL?

Ever wondered what goes into making a good loaf of sourdough?

At Little Bun Cafe, we believe good bread takes more than just flour and water. It takes the right ingredients, skilled hands, and a little patience.

Our sourdough is something we're really proud of, and we'd love to share what makes it special with you!

1. We Use Premium Japanese Flour 🇯🇵

Good sourdough starts with good flour.

One of the things that makes our sourdough special is the flour we use. We work with premium Pan Syokunin Japanese flour, chosen for its quality and suitability for artisan bread-making.

Why does this matter? The flour plays a big part in how our dough develops, giving us the foundation for a loaf with a lovely texture, a satisfying chew, and a crust that's hard to resist.

It's one of the little details that makes a difference, and we believe that choosing the right ingredients is always worth it.

2. Made by WSQ-Certified Artisan Bakers 👩🏻‍🍳

Behind every loaf are bakers who know their craft.

Our sourdough is made by WSQ-certified artisan bakers who bring professional training and baking skills to the process.

Making sourdough isn't as simple as mixing ingredients and popping the dough into the oven. From understanding the dough to knowing when it's ready to bake, every step takes skill, practice, and attention to detail.

Our bakers put care into every stage, so you can enjoy bread that's been thoughtfully made from start to finish.

Because to us, good bread isn't just about the ingredients. It's also about the people behind it.

3. We Give Our Dough 18 Hours to Ferment ⏳

Good things take time, and our sourdough is no exception.

We allow our sourdough to ferment slowly for approximately 18 hours, giving the dough time to develop its distinctive flavour and texture.

Unlike bread made with commercial yeast alone, traditional sourdough relies on a culture of wild yeast and beneficial bacteria. As the dough ferments, it develops the subtle tanginess and depth of flavour that sourdough lovers know and enjoy.

And here's the thing: we're not in a rush.

We believe in giving our dough the time it needs rather than taking shortcuts. It's a slower process, but it's part of what makes sourdough so special to us.

The result? Bread with its own character, a delicious flavour, and a story behind every loaf.

So, Ready for a Little Bun?

From our premium Japanese flour to our WSQ-certified artisan bakers and 18-hour slow fermentation process, every part of our sourdough has a purpose.

These are the little things that go into making the bread you enjoy at Little Bun Cafe.

Whether you're picking up a loaf to enjoy at home, dropping by for your favourite brunch, or sharing a sourdough pizza with friends, we'd love to have you at our table.

Come for the sourdough, stay for the good food and good company.

We can't wait to see you at Little Bun Cafe! ♡
